With re-broadcast of December 2000 special: The Real Me Autobiographies: Bobby Short
In honor of the late Bobby Short, one of the nation’s most celebrated cabaret singers, AmericanLife TV Network announced today that it will re-air its one-hour special The Real Me Autobiographies: Bobby Short as a tribute to his musical career. The special will air tomorrow night, Tuesday, March 22nd at 8 p.m. ET.

Short died today at New York Presbyterian Hospital of leukemia at the age of 80. He was a well-known fixture at his piano at Manhattan’s famous Carlyle Hotel for more than 35 years.

The special was taped in December 2000 at the Café Carlyle and gives an intimate look into Short’s musical career as he talks about his life. The special features interviews with audience members, friends and fans.

During his lifetime, Short appeared in the movies "Hannah and Her Sisters" and "Splash," along with the television miniseries "Roots" and the program "In The Heat of the Night."

While suffering from a vocal problem in 1970, Short began work on an autobiography, "Black and White Baby." In 1995, he updated his memoirs with "Bobby Short: The Life and Times of a Saloon Singer."
