Washington, D.C. – The AmericanLife TV NetworkSM, the nation’s only full-time cable channel dedicated to providing lifestyle, entertainment, and information programming for the baby boomer generation, has acquired all 44 episodes of the gripping 1986 crime drama series Crime Story starring Dennis Farina. The two-hour pilot will air Friday, October 7 at 9 PM ET and re-air at 12 midnight.

Crime Story takes place in Chicago and Las Vegas in 1963 and follows the turbulent relationship between Chicago cop Lt. Mike Torello (Dennis Farina), head of the city’s Major Crime Unit (MCU), and mobster Ray Luca (Anthony Dennison). Luca is an ambitious hoodlum trying to gain power within organized crime and Torello is obsessed with thwarting Luca. Farina’s background as a former Chicago police officer added to the show’s grit and realness. What plays out is a complicated blood feud between two willful characters.

Series creator Michael Mann (who also created the hit series Miami Vice) and director Abel Ferrara constructed episodes noted for their excellent storytelling and rich in authentic period detail. The series, described by some as a cult classic, features a diverse array of guest stars such as Lorraine Bracco, David Caruso, Pam Grier, Deborah Harry, Ving Rhames, Julia Roberts and Gary Sinise. Dennis Farina, the program’s star, now appears on NBC’s series Law & Order.
